A Change is Gonna Come

I got the job at the Greek Restaurant. I started on June 30th. So far, work has been hell. I have to lift so many heavy things, like trays of silverware, crates of glassware, and of course the trays piled high with heavy plates when I bring out the patrons' food. I also have to stand on my feet the whole day and don't get a break or a chance to sit down. So I'm dying. I work tonight at 7 and I had to work a 14 hour day the other day.

I've been answering phones at a friend's law firm and I'm hoping that they will hire me, although I was an hour late this morning because I slept through my alarm. I got home late last night from a wedding in Houston and was so tired that I slept right through it. I was freaking out when I woke up to the already snoozed alarm to find that it was 9:45. I felt soo bad! Now I wonder if they will still hire me. I was making a good impression up until now. But I am thankful I got that job at Athenian and now I have this job (if only temporarily) and I'll be baby-sitting soon as well. So hopefully I get this job and I can quit the other job.

I'm also making progress on my demo. AND most importantly, I met an awesome holistic doctor who's also a chiropractor. He's treating me and hopefully I will feel better soon. Also, I began writing a short-story at work that I've been meaning to write for a while now called The Professor which is about an affair between a student and her professor. Don't worry, it's not based on actual events, just on figments of my over-active imagination (I'm way more adventurous in my head). Having so much down time at work (I'm the receptionist), I have plenty of time to read a book or write. I need to write so many novels and short-story ideas that keep piling up. I'm hoping to make a lot of headway on that front. Then all you few but loyal readers will know me as a writer and not that-girl-who's-in-pain-all-the-time-and-hates-her-life. Lol.

Right now I'm listening to Sam Cooke, getting emotional about how the song exmplifies the struggles many endured during the Civil Rights Movement. It's not fair that he died so young. He was an amazing singer. The true King of Soul in my humble opinion. My dad loves Sam Cooke. I'm going to get him that cd for his birthday and The Express- a movie about the first Black Heisman trophy winner. Happy Birthday Daddy! I love you!

p.s. I'm still very sad about Micahel Jackson and am still in the denial phase. And I love you Sam Cooke.

p.p.s my fave songs right now are: 'Hometown Glory' by Adele, and 'Somebody' by Kings of Leon (who I will hopefully be seeing live at ACL in October!!)
